This post is starting at September 10th. Holly in the tree . . . she loves to climb partway up that mountain ash, then sit there and just watch the birds. Two pictures of one of those last poppies, and then the sunset from that evening: Another Holly-in-the-tree on September 17th: Sunset on September 18th: Sun shining on the fields and dark clouds on the morning of September 20th, and some neat-looking bubbles of water sitting on top of a tarp: Okay, now I have a bunch from September 21st. Dad found a huge mushroom growing in the trees in the field. He looked it up and found out that it's called a giant puffball. "Giant" was a good name for it. I don't think I've ever seen a mushroom so big, and apparently the thing wasn't even mature yet, so I have no idea how big it would have gotten if we'd left it there. But we all wanted to see underneath it, so my brother got a stick to pry it up from the ground with. He broke three sticks before he finally managed to get the mushroom out of the ground - that's how firmly planted it was. Then I took a few pictures (one of which is of the root, which was still stuck in the ground) before we broke it open to see what the inside looked like. (And I also took some other pictures of the quad trails and the sunset shining through the trees while we were out there. And one after we got back to the house.) Sunrise on September 25th, creating beauty in both east and west: Sunflowers on the morning of September 26th: And then on September 29th, a huge bull moose with a really nice rack ran through our field and gave us all a nice look at him, so that was neat! Holly and Rex sleeping in the sun together on September 30th (after Holly got in trouble with Rex for batting at his tail, which he was twitching right near her head): Sunset on October 5th: And finally, the pretty variety of colours on the western treeline, October 7th.

Such nice pictures! The rolling hills on the field are lovely, also the moose.
