Of the 35 pictures I have, only a few are of the seeder being used, but it finally stopped raining and we've gotten three days of nice (or at least rainless) weather now, so we've all been outside working on things that we haven't been able to get to. And I've been hearing (and seeing) the other farmers in our area getting out into their own fields, so planting season is pretty much in swing now. May 17th. While Dad was cultivating, he came across what we're pretty sure is a goose egg. It seemed to be abandoned, because nobody had seen a nest, and the geese were nowhere in sight. Seven from the 18th. 1: Our two lazy cats. 2: A honeybee on one of the blossoms on the May tree. 3: Elm tree leaves. 4: Sun shining through the May tree leaves. 5: A tiny spiderweb built between two branches of the May tree. 6: May tree leaves. 7: Caragana leaves. Then on the 19th, a Baltimore oriole landed on my hummingbird feeder. This isn't a great shot of him, but he flew away before I could get a better picture. Pansies floating in a bowl of water on the 21st, and a male ruby-throated hummingbird sitting on the feeder that same day. And a boatload from the 22nd. 1: Neat clouds first thing in the morning. 2: Cultivating the field. 3: Mountain ash leaves. 4: I'm not sure what kind of plant this is, but the leaves look nice. 5: Some kind of red-leafed tree that I thought looked really pretty. 6: Mushroom or bearbread or something growing on the side of a tree. 7: Saskatoon blossom. 8: Wild strawberry blossom. 9: A robin singing his heart out. 10: Looking through the woods at a fallen tree. 11: Another big piece of bearbread. 12: Tiny white fungus growing on the side of a fallen tree. I thought they looked a little bit like barnacles. 13: View from the base of a fallen tree. 14: Some early caragana blossoms against a poplar tree trunk backdrop. 15: Newly planted garden. 16: This year's piglets; they arrived on Monday. 17: May tree in full bloom. 18: Mountain ash blossom, not quite ready to open yet. And the rest of these are all from today; the 24th. The first three are of Dad seeding, and then two of the hopper being filled with seed. And finally, a bright green bush . . . I think it might be a chokecherry bush (based off of how those buds look), but either way it looks nice!
