Northern Lights

I've been meaning to post this one for a while.  Back in September my grandmother, aunt, uncle and cousins were visiting, and on their last night here, we were privileged to see the most beautiful and vibrant display of northern lights that I've ever seen in our area.  My cousins and siblings and I had all been out sitting around the fireplace

when I noticed the northern lights, and as they got brighter and everyone else started to notice them... let's just say there was a bit of running around and hollering going on while we got our parents and grandmother to come outside, all the while expressing our excitement.
    I have seen numerous pictures of bright, vivid, multi-coloured northern lights, but in our area I've never seen them much more than bright green.  But the night of September 16, 2024 was a little different!
    I didn't get any pictures of those lights, but I'm happy that my aunt and uncle got some pretty neat shots, and my aunt sent me a few of hers and gave me permission to post them.

These next four pictures aren't quite as spectacular because my camera doesn't take very good quality night pictures, but we saw some more bright green lights on the night of March 8th.  (I spent quite a while sitting on a rock in the front yard, holding a purring cat in my lap with one hand and trying to get some decent pictures with the other hand.)
