New Flowers!

7/12/2024

Some of my poppies have opened now, and with perfect timing, because they're blooming just as my other favourite flowers - wild roses - are going out of season and dying.  Actually, I think the wild roses bloomed for far longer this year than any other year I can remember, but I love them, so it was nice to have them for extra time this year!
Anyway, here are the pictures I've taken over the last week.  The first twelve are all from July 8th.

I still don't know what this flower is, but there was a whole patch of them --->

Mini daisies of some sort :)

My brother found a sapsucker nest. It's too high for us to see into, but the parents are constantly flying back and forth feeding the babies . . . --->

I can't remember what this is called, but it's not the first time I've seen it

I took this one from a side angle so I could get a blurred form of more of the blossoms in the background
Picture
I'm not sure if this is cow parsnip or Queen Anne's lace, but either way it was really tall and looked kind of neat

A couple of mushrooms with the sun shining on some leaves in the background

. . . and those babies squeak nonstop. I think this is the mother sapsucker
A couple more poppy photos from the 9th:

From the 10th; a bunch of sky and sunset pictures.  There were massive storms on either side of us, so that made for some interesting clouds.

Interesting-looking cloud

From this angle, I was standing on the north side of our trees so I could see the entire sunset

Same sunset a few minutes later, only this time I'm on the south side of the trees AND on the other side of the yard
Picture
Clouds coloured by the sunset. If you look closely, you can see the crescent moon in between the fluffy pink cloud and the grey cloud
And the sunset from last night (the 11th).  I was driving home from town and we were all watching the sunset.  My sister took a few pictures while we were on the highway, but when we got home and it still looked pretty, I got my camera and went running through the bushes to the other side so I could get a couple shots too.
