Backing up to Christmas Day already, there was hoarfrost all over everything that morning. And now today again, there was more frost--but it was the craziest thing. I've never seen frost like this here before! It was almost like there was hoarfrost already on everything, and then snow fell and somehow connected with the frost. I'm not even sure what happened, but there's probably an inch-thick layer of frost all over the trees--maybe two inches in some areas. It's bizarre, but it looks extremely neat. December 23 December 25 Not only was Christmas Day full of beautiful hoarfrost, we also saw a couple of moose, a Pileated woodpecker, and what I think were Pine Grosbeaks (but I'm not 100% sure, so don't quote me on that). Whatever they were, they were very pretty birds! December 28 January 2 Happy 2026!

What great beauty the hoarfrost is. It must have seemed other worldly walking through the woods out in back of your house.

Such lovely pictures, Leah! I too, love the beauty of hoar frost, and the snow. We’ve had some of those pine grosbeaks here too and they are a beautiful bird. It’s also a pretty cool sight to have the moose come for a visit! Thank you for posting!:)
