Here's the rest of the pictures I mentioned back when it first started snowing, and some more that I hadn't taken yet at that point.
     Five from the 25th:

Snow

10/23/2023

They were calling for 2-5 cm of snow yesterday evening, but it was barely coming down.  This morning I woke up to just enough snow to pretty much completely carpet the whole ground.  It's been coming down all day and I was just informed that there's 3 inches of snow now.
I saved some of the pictures for this weekend's photo dump, but here's a couple I picked out to post right now :)  (I love chickadees, especially when they're perched in a tree with snow-covered branches, even better when it's snowing.  It just looks so nice!)

30 Pictures!

10/20/2023

We were away from the farm most of last week so I got almost zero pictures around here.  But I think the pictures I took this past week made up for it.  I narrowed it down to 30 . . . which is still quite a lot, so here's another literal photo dump.
From October 7th.  The mountain ash tree had a beautiful variety of colours again this year.  I love it when that happens.

From that same day: A swamp that actually looks nicer than it sounds, the quad trail leading through the trees, and some poplar trees.

And the Lord brought in warmer weather again, long enough for us to finish harvesting the wheat - so Dad was in the combine that day, getting the rest of the crop off.

On the 15th the sun was shining through the mountain ash tree and making the leaves on the ground a really pretty colour.  I thought it looked nice with the patches of golden-red between the shadows of the branches.

Then we had an amazing sunrise on the 16th:

And another gorgeous view of God's handiwork on the morning of the 18th.

Also on the 18th, I was down on the ground trying to get a picture of the sun shining on some poppy petals, and the clover looked so pretty in the evening light that I had to take a picture of that, too.

Then the sunrise yesterday morning made a pretty picture out of the spruce trees and the fence.

It looks like snow at first glance, but I promise it's not.  The clouds looked super neat for the majority of the day yesterday.

My chicks . . . who aren't actually chicks anymore.  I think I was half right when I guessed their genders back in May when they first hatched.  Now I'm pretty sure both of them are roosters... although neither have crowed yet, they both act like roosters, have huge feet, and keep making rooster noises.
And what's kind of funny is that they're still sticking together.  Even though they're grown chickens now, they're still pretty much always following each other around.  Usually where you see one of them, you'll see the other only a couple feet away.
But anyway, they sure are pretty!  I love the difference in colour in their feathers.

And so much more!  I'm thankful for all the beautiful creation that God displays for us.  I'm thankful for my family, my friends, a good harvest . . . the list could go on and on.  We have so much to be thankful for!

Photo of the Month: September

Seems like this year has so far been flying by.  We're already into October... half of me is looking forward to winter, and half of me is wanting the warmer weather to stick around.
But anyway, here's the pick of my  September photos!
September 26th - Logs piled on a colourful, leaf-carpeted trail leading through the bushes

The trees and bushes are still hanging onto their colours - or they were last week, anyway.  I've got several more pictures from along the trails through the trees . . . plus some harvest pictures, since Dad combined most of our wheat field last week too, before it got too wet to harvest anymore.
From September 23rd: Two pictures of bushes/trees, one of the bales in our neighbour's field with our own wheat field in the foreground, and one of a pretty leaf I found... it looked a lot like a maple leaf, but it was some kind of little bush.

From the 26th: The plum tree, starting to change colour.  A stack of delicious-looking corn... one of my favourite vegetables!
And a pretty big assortment of pictures throughout the trails in the trees, and some mushrooms.  I know absolutely nothing when it comes to mushrooms, so I never touch any (not on purpose, anyway), I only look at them or take pictures.  (I don't even like the edible ones anyway; that probably has something to do with why I've never found out which mushrooms are edible and which aren't.)
Also, at the end, is a little arrangement of leaves I found.  All about in the same area, they were such vivid colours.  If I knew of any plants around our property that had blue leaves, I could have finished the rainbow... but I thought it was pretty with just the first four colours, too.

The 27th - harvest time!  To me, there's nothing that can take the place of harvest time . . . listening to the harvest machinery . . . the scent of the straw heavy in the air . . . seeing all that grain pour from the grain truck to the auger and funnelling into the grain bin . . . I think wheat harvest time is just one of my favourite parts of the year, and I always look forward to it.

This is what we woke up to on the morning of the 30th.  The first really heavy frost.  (And the moon setting.)

Yesterday afternoon, the poplar trees looked golden against the sky.
