Photo Comparison

You might remember back in May, when I posted a picture of the young maple leaves with the sun right behind them.  Well, I took a picture from a similar angle - with the yellow tinge of fall this time.  Here's the comparison!

Now Fall's Really Here!

The calendar says it's today, and looking outside you can definitely tell!  I missed last week's post, so I have a ton of pictures today.... so instead of going by date, I'm going to go by category.
First category: FLOWERS.  Yes, even though we got frost, the flowers are still blooming out there - especially the sunflowers, which are doing quite well and are so pretty!  Not to mention there are so many different angles to take pictures of sunflowers from, so that's been fun to experiment with.
First four pictures are from September 16th.  Cosmo, sunflower, poppy, and a purple something-or-other that I think starts with an "L" but I'm not quite sure.

Next four are from the 19th.  Three sunflower pictures and a little white-crowned sparrow who was sitting in the raspberries while I photographed.

And three pictures from yesterday evening.  A darker sunflower, a cosmo with a bumblebee, and the bright sunflowers with a jet flying in the background.

Next category: TREES AND LEAVES.  These are all just random pictures I've taken in the most colourful places since the leaves started changing colours.
First five pictures are of all the maples, taken on the 15th.

Two from the 16th:

Five from the 19th.  That female pileated woodpecker nearly gave me a heart attack.  I didn't know she was in the trees, and I climbed up to get a picture of a section of bushes, and the woodpecker flies up from closer to the ground - quite noisily, I might add.  I was not expecting that :D

And two from the morning of the 21st.  Sometimes when the sun shines on the trees, all I can think of is gold.  This was one of those instances.

Third category: HARVEST.  I only have three pictures for this category.  One picture is of some beet leaves, and the other pictures are of our beautiful squash harvest.  We got so many of them, especially spaghetti squash and pumpkins, which are my favourites :)

Category SKIES.  The left picture is from the evening of the 13th; the right picture is from the evening of the 21st.

And finally, five other random pictures.  The first two are of our little pond.  Number three is of my brother's turkey - and this turkey thinks he's king of the world.  Number 4 is of the freshly cultivated field in the morning sun, and number 5 is of a squash leaf that looked so much like a maple leaf, I had to take a picture.

Last Week's  Highlights

This isn't Friday, but Monday's still as good a day as any to post the latest photos!
First picture, from September 2nd, the sunset with a jet flying through.

Another sunset from the 7th:

And then a bunch from the 8th.  I'd been outside feeding and watering the animals, and I saw two huge gaggles of geese fly over very high, in formation, heading south.  The sun was setting and there were a bunch of little golden-gray puffs of cloud all over the sky above me, and the formations of geese looked really neat against those clouds.  So I went back to the house to get my camera in hopes that another gaggle would fly over.  None did, but I ended up getting a lot of other photos anyway.
Four are from the progressing sunset, one is of a section of the wheat field, and one is of a few geese (or ducks, I don't remember which) that flew over heading northeast.

There were a couple photos I wanted to put up, but I decided on one - I'm going to save the other for a year-end collage I'm planning to do.
This flower had such vivid colour!

Five different subjects out of twelve different pictures.  We had the first corn of the year for supper on August 25th.  As always, it was delicious!  Corn is one of my favourite vegetables.

There were so many flowers blooming on the 26th that I went to check them out.  Tikka came with me and just couldn't handle the heat, as you can see from the way she just plopped down under the sunflowers.  (And that's a real "sun"flower.)

Then I picked some cherry tomatoes (another of my top favourite foods), and right after that, Tikka decided it wasn't so hot that she couldn't try to snatch a flower out of my sister's hand.

The moon looked super neat on the 27th and I stood outside taking pictures until I had a good one.
Picture
And I actually got a pink poppy!  I thought only the red ones were going to bloom but then on the 29th my mom came and told me that there was a pink poppy out there.
That evening I took another picture of the moon with some tree branches in the foreground.

And finally, on the 30th, we were being watched by a couple of "guards" on the barn roof.
I'll try to do a photo of the month tomorrow, so keep an eye out!
