One of God's most amazing creations in the wintertime. I know that we're three days into spring already, but I'd still like to share my experiences with winter hoarfrost! Actually, all of the pictures I'll be sharing today were taken less than a month ago. It had been intensely foggy the night before - so foggy that my mother, who was driving me home from town, pulled off the highway and took back roads home. At times we couldn't even see five feet in front of us. But in the morning we were greeted with the gorgeous sight of millions of tiny little crystals clinging to every surface, a result of that incredibly thick fog.

Spring is my favourite season! I love the smells, sounds, and sights of this time of year. It also means ASPARAGUS CUTTING TIME is just around the corner, though . . . backbreaking work . . . which can be rewarding, if you look on the bright side. It's nice to be able to look at the asparagus fields by the end of the June and think, "I helped us to get through another season of asparagus cutting!" Here's a few pictures to walk you through what we do with the asparagus after it comes in off the fields. Step 1: Rinse the stalks Step 2: Cut and even the ends Step 3: Weigh the bundles to equal 1lb Step 4: Wrap elastics around the bundles to hold them together Step 5: Slip a tag over the elastic Step 6: Stack the bundles carefully in preparation for boxing      |
